Setting up MFA on Your Google Account with Google Authenticator

MFA is critical for security. Setting up Google Authenticator for your Google Workspace account adds an extra layer of security.

1. Sign in to Google – Go to myaccount.google.com and log in.

2. Go to Security Settings – Click Security in the left menu.

3. Enable 2-Step Verification – Under Signing in to Google, click 2-Step Verification > Get Started, then follow the prompts.

4. Choose Authenticator App – In the 2-Step Verification settings, select Authenticator app as your method.

5. Install Google Authenticator on your mobile device – Download the app:

   • Android

   • Apple / iOS

6. Scan QR Code – Open the Authenticator app, tap +, select Scan barcode, and scan the QR code on your screen.

7. Enter Verification Code – The app generates a 6-digit code. Enter it on Google’s setup page to verify.

8. Save Backup Codes (Optional) – Store the provided backup codes in a safe place in case you lose access.

9. Complete Setup – Click Done to finish.
